 In the state, there exist many government schemes aimed at supporting the socially deprived sections of the population. The initiative, run by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, caters to various groups, including the disabled and the elderly. Examples of such schemes include the Old Age Assistance Scheme and the Disability Assistance Scheme, which are designed to provide essential assistance to the needy.

Administered by the Department of Women and Child Development, this unique scheme is designed to provide assistance to widows in the state. Who can avail Widow Assistance Scheme 2024?

The age of the applicant widow should be between 18 years to 64 years.
Not having a son of 21 years of age or older.
The annual income of the applicant's family should not exceed Rs 1,20,000 for rural area and Rs 1,50,000 for urban area.
Has a son aged 21 years or more who is mentally unsound or has more than 75% disability and is unmarried.
Must be a native of Gujarat state.

Benefits available under Widow Assistance Scheme 2024

The widow is given a monthly stipend of Rs 1250.

Eligibility to avail benefits of Widow Assistance Scheme

You might be wondering whether every widow gets the benefit of this scheme? But, the government has fixed some eligibility, all the sisters falling under that eligibility are eligible to get the benefit of this scheme. See eligibility below
The beneficiary widow sister should be a native of Gujarat.
For rural beneficiary, annual family income should not be Rs 1,20,000 or more.
For urban beneficiary, annual family income should not be Rs 1,50,000 or more.
Any destitute widow aged 18 years or above is eligible to benefit from this scheme.
BPL beneficiaries under Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS) under National Social Assistance Program (NSAP) who are above 40 years of age can also fill this Widow Sahay Yojana Form.

Note:- If the applicant has any objection against the order of rejection of the applicant's application, he can appeal to the Provincial Officer within 60 days and the benefit of assistance under this scheme will be available from the month in which the application is made.

- Husband's death certificate
- Proof of age of the applicant (LC PAN Card, Passport, Birth Certificate)
- Birth certificate/LC of all children.

- Two close witnesses (signature, non-relative, identification)
- Affidavit in the name of the firm (should not be remarried and should mention income).

If the son is above 21 years of age but is physically disabled or mentally unstable, serving life imprisonment, an example from the duly authorized officer accompanying the application.
Birth Certificate of the applicant (widow) or School Living Certificate if both these proofs are not available then Certificate of Age from Medical Officer of Government Hospital/Civil Hospital.
Undertaking in person from Talatishree to the applicants in the age group of 18 to 40 years to join any Government recognized trade training within one year.

Widow beneficiaries have to comply with a common condition to continue the assistance of the scheme. Which are as follows.
For widow beneficiaries, every year in the month of July, Talatishree's certificate that the beneficiary widow has not remarried has to be submitted to the concerned Mamlatdar office.
